In short. Shutterbook has no accounts and no servers of its own. All cards, illustrations and your preferences stay on your device. The only data that leaves the app goes to Google’s ad service, which shows the ads in the free version — and only after you’ve been asked where the law requires it. With Shutterbook Pro, no ads are requested at all. This website sets no cookies.
Who is responsible
The controller for the app and this website is YOLO Studio, De Nieuwe Erven 3 15400, 5431 NV Cuijk, the Netherlands (KVK 42205826). Contact: contact@yolostudio.eu.
The app
What stays on your device
Shutterbook is built to work offline. The full card library — text, settings, tables and illustrations — is bundled inside the app; it is never downloaded from us. The following is stored only on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else:
- your starred cards and recently viewed cards;
- your display theme (light, dark or red night mode);
- whether Shutterbook Pro is unlocked on this device.
Deleting the app deletes this data.
When you share a card, the app draws the image on your device and hands it to your phone’s share sheet. It goes only where you choose to send it.
Ads in the free version (Google AdMob)
The free version shows a small number of ads inside cards and on the browse screen. They are served by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. An ad is only requested when its space scrolls into view and your device is online.
When the ads SDK runs, Google may collect:
- your IP address and the approximate location derived from it;
- device and app information, such as device model, operating system version, language and app version;
- ad interaction data, such as which ads were shown and tapped;
- the device’s advertising identifier — on iPhone, only if you allow tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt;
- diagnostic data about the SDK’s own performance.
Google uses this to deliver and measure ads, to prevent fraud and abuse and, if you agree, to personalise ads. How Google handles this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
Your consent
- EEA, UK and Switzerland. Before any ad is requested, the app shows Google’s consent form (Google User Messaging Platform). The ads SDK does not start until you have made a choice. If you decline, the app requests no ads. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
- iPhone tracking. iOS asks whether Shutterbook may track you across apps. If you say no, the advertising identifier is not shared, and any ads shown are not based on tracking. You can change this any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- To make your consent choice again, delete and reinstall the app, and the consent form appears on first use of an ad space. You can also write to us.
Shutterbook Pro
Shutterbook Pro is a one-time in-app purchase that turns the ads off. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store under Apple’s terms and privacy policy; we never receive your name, Apple ID or payment details. Once Pro is unlocked, the app makes no ad requests and the ads SDK collects nothing.
No analytics, no tracking of our own
The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting service of our own, no account system and no server of ours that it talks to. If we add such a service in a future version, we will update this policy before that version is released.
This website
shutterbook.app sets no cookies, uses no local storage, runs no analytics and loads nothing from other domains — fonts and images are served from this site itself. The optional night-mode button changes the colours of the page you are on and is not remembered.
The site is hosted by Render Services, Inc. (USA). To deliver pages and keep the service secure, Render processes technical request data such as your IP address, browser user agent and the requested address in its server logs. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
If you e-mail us, we use your message and address only to reply, and delete them once they are no longer needed.
Transfers outside the EU
Google and Render may process data in the United States. Both participate in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework; where it does not apply, transfers rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Children
Shutterbook is a general-audience reference app and is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect children’s data.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. Because we hold no personal data from the app ourselves, requests about ad data are best directed to Google; we will gladly help. Write to contact@yolostudio.eu.
You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
If the app or the website starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
